Swedish AI startup Donna raises $2.5 million to provide AI assistant for lawyers

Summary

Today, the Sweden-based Donna Technologies announced it has raised $2.5 million in seed funding led by VC firm Point Nine Capital and notable angel investors. Founded in 2017 in Malmö, Sweden by entrepreneurs and NLP specialists Rik Nauta and Anton Gerdes, Donna is backed by Berlin-based venture capital fund Point Nine. Bearing a striking resemblance to the witty and all-knowing legal assistant from the USA Network series Suits, Donna provides the right insights and comments at exactly the right time. This is one of the reasons why we are so pleased to partner with the Point Nine team, who has been at the forefront of investing in the consumerization of enterprise software for many years,” explains Rik Nauta, co-founder and CEO of Donna. Co-founders Rik Nauta and Anton Gerdes first came across the idea for Donna three years ago, when reviewing the Terms & Conditions found on websites, as part of their studies into Natural Language Processing (NLP).
