Grit, a NY-based platform that uses machine learning and static analysis to eliminate technical debt, is launching with $7M in funding. The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and its development efforts to support every major programming language. Led by Morgante Pell, founder & CEO, Grit is developing tools tht can modify code at scale. It allows developers to express a high-level goal, such as splitting a monolith into microservices, upgrading from AngularJS to Angular 16, or converting a codebase from JavaScript to TypeScript, while delegating the implementation details to AI agents. Large swathes of code can be modified automatically, while specific details around sensitive parts of the codebase are specified with greater precision with deterministic, declarative rules.
